Absence Procedure
ABSENCE PROCEDURE
Could we remind you of the absence procedures which are in place at St Anne's. If your child is going to be absent from school, for example if they have an appointment at the dentist, doctors or hospital et cetera could you please complete one of our absence forms which are available in the school reception area. Ideally all medical appointments should be made outside school hours but we do appreciate that this is sometimes hard to arrange.
If your child is sick, could you please telephone the school as soon as is conveniently possible on the morning of their absence, giving their name, class, reason for absence and expected date of return to school. We have an answer machine for all out of hour's calls, and this is checked on a regular basis. Upon their return could you please send in a covering letter or complete one of our absence forms. All requests for holidays should be made on the official school holiday request form; supplies of these are also available from outside the school office.
If the above procedures are followed it helps us to ensure that the children are safe. If we do not receive an explanation for a child's absence we may have to report the absence to the Education Welfare Officer who may come out to visit you.
