Why is homework important? Homework is used to recap on what has been taught and learnt in the classroom. It is also beneficial as preparation for a future lesson. Such as research for a particular topic. For older children this type of homework is a good way to encourage them to investigate further. | Five Top Tips 1. Find an area at home which has a flat surface and good lighting. Make sure all the materials needed are to hand such as pencils, rubber, ruler, glue etc. 2. Have a daily routine, choose a time when it is good for both of you to sit down and work together. Turn off the television or work in another room away from distractions. 3. Don't let homework become a chore, be interested, talk and ask questions about the task set. 4. Encourage, be positive and praise your child as much as you can. 5. Try not to teach your child methods which you used at school.
Children who have worked poorly in the past improve greatly when their parents get involved in making sure that homework is done. |
